This plugin is very adaptable across platforms and the configuration file is written with perl which makes it very strong to customize anything you need. Best logfile plugin I've tried by far.
This plugin is brilliant. Very easy to set up and gets all the lovely perfdata I need to have historic and highly valuable hard numbers to tune our MySQL servers and application code. No more naysayers with the complaining that 'changing for the sake of changing is not a solution'.
Also the checking of MySQL replication is very awesome.
This plugin defeats any reasons we had for using the MySQL Enterprise Manager software. Saving dollars and cents.

I like this method better than the built into web UI methods (firstly, I don't use the default nagios UI) and because this is much simpler for me to configure in less than extremely standard ways.
Very portable code and with the update given by sam_pointer it works great in a nightly cron to make sure my backup schedule doesn't create a cascade of alerting failure three times a day.

Simple, very portable, awesome. Thanks for posting this. I wanted to make some pretty RRD graphs too so I added a perfdata section. The patch is here:
