I'm using this plug-in for both my local machine and remote servers.
However, 'free' memory, when returned using the 'free' command, can be misleading, since memory is available at the moment it's required, but allocated for caching the rest of the time.
More information is here: http://www.linuxatemyram.com
Might I suggest the -/+ buffers/cache value is used?
free=`free | grep Mem | sed -r 's/\ +/\ /g' | cut -d \ -f 4`
to
free=`free | grep "buffers/cache" | sed -r 's/\ +/\ /g' | cut -d \ -f 4`
gives a better reading of 'available' memory...
