check_hp_print is designed to check the status of Hewlett Packard printers. The script checks for a number of states, no toner, low toner, paper jams, door and trays open, maintenance kits required, or if the printer is off line. All of these states have default values associated with them. The default values can be changed, and are in the section named Default Values. The defaults can be overridden by setting the related flag. By using the defaults and flag together, you only need to use flags for the exceptions. There is a logging option that will put any unknown values into '/usr/local/nagios/var/check_hp_print.log'. Any unknown values should send a critical warning to Nagios. The values in the log can then be added to the script to prevent there re-occurrence in the log.
